ANDERSON POWERPOLE
CONNECTORS
A movement to standardize all Hams
to the same power connectors was started in Southern
California in the late 90s. It was
adopted by RACES, ARES and SATERN and possibly some
other groups have followed by now.
The goal was to have al Public Serice vehicles, RVs, and
EOCs standardized by 2005. Things
have stalled on both fronts: Most public service equipment
is maintained on contract and these
standardized connectors have not been written into the contracts.
Ham compliance has been good in
certain areas but it's a closely guarded secret in others. Some
Hams
don't like the powerpoles for various
reason but they should have adapters in the "jump pack"
to insure
compatibility. The following article
